I (Andrew) purchased this instrument directly from the seller in João Pessoa. He was in a military band and his primary instrument was some variety of brass. Somewhere along the way he'd gotten the itch to learn guitar and purchased this one new from João Batista himself back in 2010. The owner never really learned to play, though, and for much of the last 12 years this guitar, or at least its case, has been collecting dust.
Take a close look at the photos of this guitar: beautiful pieces of Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides, and the top is as nice a piece of spruce as you will ever see, with tight, straight grain throughout. This one deserved better tuners than those that came on it, so we installed a new set of German Rubners. An excellent example of JB in peak form.
