This book/CD set fills a historical gap and makes for a fascinating study for any student of choro. Working from original recordings the authors transcribed both the melody as played by Benedito Lacerda on flute and Pixinguinha’s tenor sax counterpoints. The twelve tracks were recorded in full and in play-along versions without the flute (melody) and tenor sax (counterpoint.)
For this first volume twelve songs were selected, all written by Pixinguinha and Benedito Lacerda. With scores for C, Bb and Eb instruments, the following songs are included: Acerta o passo, Ainda me recordo, Descendo a serra, Naquele tempo, Os oito batutas, Proezas de Solon, Sedutor, Segura ele, Seu Lourenço no vinho, Sofres porque queres, Uma a zero and Vou vivendo. With the accompanying CD you can listen or practice along.
