Wilson Campos is an up-and-coming instrument builder from São José dos Campos in the interior of São Paulo state. With a technical background as a former airplane builder at Embraer, Wilson is considered a top, contemporary builder of Brazil's folk steel-string guitar, the viola caipira. He also builds 6- and 7-string guitars, and bandolins. His cavacos are light-weight with a fast, clean sound, and frequently use less-common, native woods that have excellent sonic parameters -- for example, the loro-preto used for the back and sides on this one. This cavaco is brand new and comes fitted with top quality German tuners (Rubner).
