This is the second bandolim we've had in the shop made by Osvaldo Boaretto Junior. The first one sold before we could even list it here! Although the name Boaretto may not be familiar, the luthier's father (and namesake) was one of the founders of, and partners in, "Soros", a well-known company that made stringed instruments in São Paulo throughout the latter half of the 20th century. Hence the name of this particular model, "Soros Especial". (Note, however, that this is not a Soros instrument. It is much better than most Soros' we've seen.)
An excellent value. Expect these to get more expensive as Boaretto Jr. becomes better known. Here are the specs:
