Jorge Raphael lives in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, near Juiz de Fora. At one time a professional guitarist, he taught extension courses at the federal university in Viçosa and gradually dedicated himself to lutherie. He is widely considered to be one of the best Brazilian guitar builders in activity today.

Condition: The cedar top is mostly in excellent condition, though there is a crack very close to the fingerboard. Similarly, the back is clear with the exception of one area of the upper bout where there are signs of wear and a few scratches. On the lower side of the heel there is another blemish -- almost as if someone had started to install a strap button, though there is none. See photos.

Video: We don't know if this is exactly the same 2003 J Raphael as the one we are selling, but it certainly looks like it. At a minimum, it will give you an idea of the quality of the instruments he was building at that time: https://youtu.be/eELWXr9Sc9M
